1. Taking overall responsibility for all ICT systems, software, processes, hardware and equipment across the University, including the management and maintenance.

  • Direct and manage global IT infrastructure in a 24 x 7 global environment including data centers, networks, systems and client services to service levels ;
  • Maintain day-to-day operations and documentation of IT infrastructure, including local and wide area networks and all other IT services 24/7 ;
  • Train, manage and support any IT technicians in providing IT support and maintenance services to the University ;
  • Have a sense of urgency in responding to and resolving critical issues that relate to the performance of the University IT systems ;
  • Ensure and manage the configuration and installation of new software onto the network and to maintain existing installations ;
  • Prepare a specification for, procure, build, configure and install a wide variety of computer hardware into the University ;

2. To ensure that the IT systems of the University are readily available for use by students and staff and improving IT systems to provide new, faster and better services for the entire University 

  • Manage data center and infrastructure resources including integration between corporate resources and operational systems housed in the University data centers ;
  • Take personal responsibility for the quality, reliability and availability of University IT infrastructure,
  • Proactively monitor systems, networks and applications and provide input to improve the stability, security, efficiency and scalability of systems,
  • Manage vendor performance and ongoing integration across multiple systems and providers.
  • Participate in routine monthly maintenance, weekends and evenings,
