Patrick Schweitzer, the French designer and Director for the center of Arts S& AA in Strasbourg was awarded by American Institute of Architects in the category of designers of higher education and research facilities to design the first attractive building of University of Rwanda-College of Science and Technology (UR-CST) known as Faculty of Architecture and Environmental Design (FAED).
The UR –CST building is located in former KIST Nyarugenge District. The works started in early 2017 and was inaugurated on 15th March 2018, it is built for the School of Creative Design and Architecture. The first 400 students will start using the building in September 2018.
The UR-CST school covers an area of 5600squares meters, by materials from Rwanda in the form of Rwanda Mountains in order to inspire young architects to be encouraged to use local resources. It is made by many big classrooms, offices for officials and has the capacity to accommodate 600 students.
