Welcome note

Welcome to the School of Law . Let me tell you a little about the values that my colleagues and I share. We strive to train excellent legal professionals, with remarkable ethical and legal values of justice and human dignity. The challenges posed by the aftermath of the Genocide against the Tutsi need national and international responses ; national trade measures must comply with the rules of the EAC and the WTO and other international agreements ; our people need our legal advice to handle their problems. Our country needs lawyers who can address these issues. Our task is to provide our students with the best possible legal skills to respond to these issues. The School of Law attracts excellent students, both from Rwanda and abroad, to its programmes. Studying at the School of Law makes students acquire the ability to think originally, critically and creatively so as to advise a client to resolve legal issues in ways that are both ethical and principled. Legal studies open up many opportunities and I invite you to seize these opportunities by deciding upon your education at the School of Law of the University of Rwanda.
